So we are not going to be discussing the usual things to do in Phnom Penh (Killing Fields, Royal Palace, Gun Range, etc.) but those that are not in your typical guide book.

French Riviera Replica in Phnom Penh, by Luc Forsyth lucforsyth.com
Koh Pich (Diamond Island)
Yes, that is a replica of the French Riviera in Cambodia in the picture to the right. Koh Pich is located over a small bridge east of Nagaworld Casino at the end of Sihanouk Blvd. It is a new development in the city that is lined with streets named after American ivy league schools such as Harvard, Stanford and Yale. It has its own city hall and soon will be home to a new hotel inspired by the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
If you ask us the best part about Koh Pich is the cheap BBQ and beer available in the strip mall just over the bridge. You can fill your belly full of beer and food for as little as $5 each. Towers of beer (3 liters) plus another jug start at 25,000 Riel ($6.25). Don’t waste too much time trying to figure out which restaurant has the cheapest, they’re all the same, instead pick one that already has a few people and sit down to enjoy the view. Besides all the interesting architecture there is also a small fare of sorts that offers some rides for dirt cheap.

Kambol Kart Raceway
Kambol Go Kart Raceway
Located about 8 KM past the airport off of National Road 4 is the Kambol Go Kart Raceway where you can race around a 1 KM track at excessive speeds. It is a bit far out of town but is located next to the shooting range, so if you are in the area it’s a great place to spend some time racing around the track then enjoying a beer while the sun sets. For $12 you get 10 laps around the 1 KM track at up to 60 KM/H. Be sure to consider how good your travel insurance is before partaking in race.
Kid City
Don’t let the name fool you, Kid City is not just for kids. They have flippin’ laser tag for one. It is located on Sihanouk Blvd in the neighborhood BKK1 just a few minutes walk from The White Rabbit. In addition to laser tag, they have ice skating (what?!), rock climbing, a playground, and so much more. Prices start at $10 for adults, and kids are only $5 on the weekend, but leave the kids at home because they will just drag you down at laser tag.
